Pretty Prairies

Don't believe someone who tells you that the prairies are bald & flat, because the topography is extremely varied & really quite lovely.
This was shot east of Yorkton; quite a pretty little scene for a pitstop. This time, instead of cows, a row of graineries stood watch as we "rested" for a minute at the side of the road.

  1. Mrs Shoes, there is beauty in every type of geography, I think. And more variety in each type. I took a road trip once in the desert and learned that there are different types of deserts; we went through three. I'd love to see the Canadian prairies!

    1. I've only seen one desert - in British Columbia. Because it is enormous, Canada boasts regions ranging from polar all the way to sub-tropical (and one desert).

    1. I wanted to have a picnic there, but Mr Shoes was in a little hurry just then.

  3. Yes, even if we look flat here there are so many coulees and dips you would never see from the road. And there is beauty here for sure, as there is everywhere if you are willing to really look

    1. As we drove through SK I commented to Mr Shoes how quickly a horse could get back into fighting shape just riding those hills. Right where we live is FLAT & covered in bush; a neighbour once told me their house was "on the ridge".... Not surprisingly, her directions left a lot to be desired.

    1. We enjoyed the entire trip. I had a book, but I didn't get too far into it (too busy staring out the window).

  5. I rarely see a landscape I don't love--only those that are marred by human activity, but I especially love prairies. I think about riding through them.

    1. Exactly what I thought - I even remarked to Mr Shoes how much faster we could have the horses in shape every year if we had access to those lovely rolling hills! Not to mention, wouldn't it be pretty to discover something new over each horizon!

  6. It is a pretty scene. You can find beauty in anything if you really look.
By the way, I had to jump through hoops to get to your blog. No matter which browser I try, whether I use a direct link or type it in, it tells me that the site is configured wrong and it's not safe. After a 5th try they let me in at my own "risk". And it's not the first time that it happened...thought you might want to know. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for telling me Jas, I didn't have any idea. That really sucks because I'm not ANY kind of tech whiz, which is why I use a point & shoot host. I'll send them a note & see what can or can't be done.
